Pause4Paws, Inc. is a Tulsa non-profit that arranges foster homes for pets while their owners experiencing homelessness, mental illness or addiction receive urgent medical, mental health, or substance abuse treatment. That care often is a matter of life or death.
Pause4Paws requires a detailed application to be filled out by all foster families and pet owners. Pause4Paws promise to individuals who trust their beloved pets with us is to keep those pets safe for a reunion with their owners. Pause4Paws foster services are limited to pet owners who have been referred by an agency or organization that helps individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness or addiction. The mission of Pause4Paws is to help these pet owners receive necessary emergency services without their pet being a barrier to available care. |

OUR PROCESS
When short term foster care is requested for a pet by an approved agency or organization, Pause4Paws facilitates the matching of foster families with pets in need of short-term foster care.
Foster families generously donate their love, home and time to care and comfort pets for a short time period while their owner receives the emergency medical, mental health or addiction treatment they desperately need and would not otherwise receive.
Pet owners work entirely through the referring agency and are not in contact with foster families.
Foster families and pet owners must complete detailed applications so that Pause4Paws may fully honor our promise to keep pets safe and loved so that they may be reunited with their owners once treatment is complete.
Pause4Paws stays in touch with the foster families and supports them where necessary with animal transport, pet supplies, or emergency veterinary help, so that the pet owner knows they will return to find their pet has been cared for as they would have themselves.

WHO DO WE HELP?
Pet owners who need medical, mental health, or addiction treatment may qualify when referred by an approved agency or organization that helps individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness or addiction. HOW YOU CAN HELP
Pause4Paws welcomes people and animal-loving volunteers. There are lots of ways to help. Pet fostering is an obvious need but we also need help transporting pets, assisting with fundraisers, collecting pet supplies and spreading the word about the Pause4Paws foster program. We also need help from pet care providers who can donate their time and skill. |
